READING THE TREES OF THE LAMONT CAMPUS FOREST

A “virtual” walk-around through the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory property
with Dr. Neil Pederson. Excellent introduction to how studying the range of tree species
and dendrochronology (study of tree rings) reveals much about climate change and
human history.

Larry Hoard, Fred Baggio, Don Goldstein, Michael Labat, Carmen Alex,
and Cristiana Assumpcao created the Lamont Campus Forest Virtual Tour

“ECO-TRAIL RIDE” at the STANYS CONFERENCES, Nevele Grande Hotel and Resort, Ellenville, NY

Note: Steven Skye (President, Board of Trustees, Neversink Valley Museum of History and Innovation) has written to correct some statements included in the Eco-Ride write-up, which were based on the source cited. ” There were over 30 banks, 4 canals and 1 insurance company that reached the million dollar mark before the D&H. There were also numerous private canals before the D&H. The Santee-Cooper in South Carolina and the Middlesex in Massachusetts are just two examples. Another one is the C&D across the Delmarva peninsula.” For more information: http://www.newyorkcanals.org/_pdfs/Skye.pdf
