Charles Burrows
Creating an ES Summary Powerpoint
ESPRIT 8/7/07

A few people asked me HOW I did it... Here goes...

1st, I did copy and paste of all of the desired text.

2nd, using the "Replace..." function under "Edit," I replaced all (enter only what's between the asterisks) occurrences of

*. * (period space)

with

*.^p* (^p means, "insert a new paragraph")

That made each sentence its own paragraph.

Then I hit "Send to Microsoft Powerpoint" (under "File").

I had to mess with the Slide Master in Powerpoint, and change the font sizes, and splice a few long sentences...

This is how I learned:

From Word's Help files...

Create a PowerPoint presentation from a Word outline

You can use an existing Word document to create a PowerPoint presentation. To set up the slides in a presentation, PowerPoint uses the heading styles in your Word document. For example, each paragraph formatted with the Heading 1 style becomes the title of a new slide, each Heading 2 becomes the first level of text, and so on.

1. Open the document you want to use to create a PowerPoint presentation.

2. On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Microsoft PowerPoint.

Notes

You can also import a Word document into a PowerPoint presentation.

In PowerPoint, click Open on the File menu. In the List files of type box, click All Outlines. Then, locate and double-click the Word document you want.

You can also insert slides from a Word outline into an existing presentation. In PowerPoint, display the slide you want to insert the new slides after. On the Insert menu, click Slides from Outline, and then locate and double-click the Word document you want.

I hope that wasn't too confusing! Let me know if I can help in any way!
