Hi All,

I recently discovered a simple and interesting way to locate  third party powerpoint programs for Earth Science as well as other topics.   After typing the directions below, I will also give an example.  As  always, proper credits to the authors needs to done for their hard  work.

PART 1 DIRECTIONS FOR LOCATING POWER POINTS

Go to:  _www.google.com_ (http://www.google.com)

In the Google search box, first type in the "topic" you are interested in,  then leave a space, next type exactly what is in quotation marks  "filetype:ppt"   This will bring several hundred if not thousands of  ppt's from the world wide web.

Once the search results are compiled, you will need to go to the bottom of  each descriptive paragraph and copy the web address from the first w of www thru  the final "t" in ppt.  In Google, the exact web address for the power point  file is shown in green.

PART 2
EXAMPLE OF A POWER POINT SEARCH ON THE TOPIC OF ACID RAIN

In the google search box paste this:  acid rain filetype:ppt

The Google search for me revealed 2000 ppt's on the world wide web  about the topic of acid rain.  I selected the forth entry down as  shown below.  Expect about half of the search results to work.

From the pasted search result entry shown below, copy the url
_www.globe.uah.edu/documents/acidrain.ppt_ (http://www.globe.uah.edu/documents/acidrain.ppt)
and then paste it into your internet browser.  Once  the ppt downloads and opens, do a file "Save As" and the powerpoint is now  saved on your local pc.
