My colleagues made friendly fun of my motto  " Lab is for learning skills!"
Experiments are for the purpose of learning skills, such as measuring, data collecting and tables, graphing, writing.
The results: who cares as long as they made sense; e.g., wood floats and has a density lower than 1.

CRYSTALS

dissolve a lot of salt in very hot water  ( 1 teaspoon in a 400 ml beaker).
place 1 drop (use a dropper) of salt water on a slide.
Place the slide on a microscope  ( a video one if you have).
Focus on the edge of the drop.
Let the water evaporate.
salt crystals will form.   Growth lines will appear as the crystal gets larger.

The hotter the water, the faster the evaporation. Crystals do not form at all edges and as the water evaporates new crystals form in towards the center of the drop.

It is fun, it is fast (10 minutes), and it works
Good Luck!
